Rooster Rock Beach

So our last adventure on Sunday was to hit the beach at Rooster Rock. Our plan was to get a little R & R, read books, and watch the world go by on boat.
We go thru to the lady working the booth and pay our $ 3.00 fee to enter. We say to the nice little gal who is about 16, "So which way should we head for the best part of the beach?" She says, "Well it is hard to know because the water level is up a bit." We say, "ohh, well we will check it out and find a good spot." So we drive left once we are thru the gate, after a little while we see a nice bathroom and decide it would be nice to be close to it if we need it so, we pull in and park. We proceed down the stairs to the beach area where we find nothing but rocks which are immediately met by water. There is no beach to sit on. We say to ourselves we will just move on down the beach, it has to be better. We get all the way down to the "Rooster" which is at the boat launch, decide to take a picture and mean while the park ranger is writing us a ticket because we are parked in the boat trailer only area. Not like there weren't 20 other spots open if a boat really came! Adam proceeds to run back to the CR-V and thankfully the ranger was nice enough not to give us the ticket. "But if you had been a couple more minutes I would have had to give it to you." So we still have not found any "beach" to be had, plenty of picnic dinners going on but not by the water. We drive all the way down to the opposite end in hopes of finding beach only to be told by some other park tourists that the only "beach" area that actually has beach right now because the water is sooo high is the nude area! How rude!! We ask ourselves why the little gal working the booth would not tell us this when we asked, we decided her sole purpose is to collect $ 3.00 not tell you that you can't sit on the beach, at Rooster Rock Beach!! We left quite sad that we had not beached it that day, but we did get a picture of the rock!

Hey! That picture looks a little bit like Blowing Rock in NC. That was also a little disapointing if I remember correctly. What wasn't disappointing was the weekend as a whole, as well as that iced coffee. I still think it was the best I've ever had. We need to go back...
